June 24, 2007 (Press Release) --
According to Robbie Bach, Microsoft's president of the Entertainment and Devices Division, Zune has already meet the goal of a million players. He had only expected to sell a million by June but had already busted that target.
Bach told SF Gate that after nine months in the marketplace, Vole was pleased with the progress. In the hard-disk-based category, Microsoft had got about 10 percent market share. He admitted it was a good start, although not overwhelming.
He said that there were signs that people were using their Zune's to do some sharing, but with only a million users that is not a big part of Zunic culture yet.
The next thing to come on the Zune market is a 'Watermelon Red' Zune, which Bach thinks will sell well with the kiddies, well those who can survive being beaten up at school for not sporting the latest iPod.
