June 28, 2007 (Press Release) --
Artist Roland Thick and Mamas Gunz took a hard blow earlier this year when Tommy Chen a.k.a the Hidden Master was found deceased by long time associate BOX, born Calvin Rhodes, in his plush New York apartment. The rapper Roland thick, who is also the producer of Raw Beat Mafia, DJ Mindstine,Mamas Gunz,Mopreme Shakur,Raw Beat Mafia, and a ton of other artist released a statement on June 21, 2007, that "Tommy Chen Records will live on". He had no comment on the death at this time. Tommy Chen records was founded on the belief that independent record companies would be the future of hip hop. In 1997 Roland Thick and Tommy Chen started Raw Beat Records in anticipation of internet independence. "We always believed that people really wanted to hear music straight from the source, not from some stuffy boardroom exec." said Roland Thick. Judging from the recent articles in hip hop magazines, hip hop is finally feeling the burn of saturation. Long live Tommy Chen Records!

With hip hop music at a record selling low, the streets are finally showing their disrespect for corporate hip hop.
