June 28, 2007, Dubai, UAE: As the nomination phase of the Second Annual Middle East Logistics Awards (MELA) 2007 is gaining momentum, some of the leading logistics bodies have announced their support for the prestigious event. International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) and Supply Chain and Logistics Group (SCLG) have joined MELA as Industry Support Patrons. Manfred F Boes, President, FIATA, and Dr KM Madrecha, Consultative Committee Member, SCLG, have joined MELA Advisory Board. MELA 2007 – which will give away 25 awards to the stellar performers in the Middle East logistics industry in air, sea and land categories – is slated for November 6, 2007, in Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE.

“The decision of FIATA and SCLG to endorse the Middle East Logistics Awards reiterates our endeavour to recognise performance excellence in the logistics industry in the region. These two industry bodies have extensive reach and influence among the logistics community and their support will further strengthen the value and the spirit of the MELA Awards. SCLG strongly supports the vision and the mission that MELA has set out — to give due recognition to individuals and organisations who have made outstanding achievements in the Middle East logistics industry,” Dr Madrecha proclaimed.

Meanwhile, the nomination phase for the MELA 2007 Awards – which started on June 10, 2007, and ends on July 10, 2007 – is receiving very good response from the Middle East logistics community. “The nomination process for the 2007 MELA Awards is currently going on and we solicit the participation of the entire Middle East logistics community in deciding the nominees for these awards,” Aleem added.
