July 7, 2007 (Press Release) --
Photographers can now make money giving away stock photos.
Freerange is a free stock photo agency that is supported through sitewide Google Adsense ads. Now, contributing photographers and can keep 80% of all the ad revenue generated by their submissions. Through an implementation of the Google Adsense infrastructure, Freerange photographers can sign up for a Google Adsense account directly through the Freerange Stock site, and within days the ads appearing next to their submissions will be directly tied to their Adsense accounts. Photographers or bloggers who already have a Google Adsense account can associate their existing account with the Freerange Stock system to participate in revenue sharing. Blogger who shoot good photos now have the opportunity to share those images and boost their Adsense income.
"With the payout of microstock agencies shrinking day after day, this model allows photographers contributing free stock to benefit from those submissions the same way free stock sites do. Depending the on the desirability of the submissions, revenue from giving images away could exceed revenue from selling them," says Chance Agrella, founder of Freerange Stock. "The nice thing with our system is we can get photographers signed up for an Adsense account, something that has previously been difficult without an ad-ready website. We display their ads and Google takes care of the administration of their account."
Agrella notes that there are a tremendous number of images that can do well in a free stock environment - quality blog photos, images underperforming in traditional or microstock agencies, or images rejected due to lack of need or technical quirks. Freerange Stock does review and approve or reject each submitted image, but there is often more flexibility in the process.
Freerange Stock accepts jpegs 2400x1600 or larger (files up to 1.5 megs), and displays up to three blocks of Adsense ads per page, all of which are tied the photographer's account. For more information about the revenue-sharing program, visit http://www.freerangestock.com.
