The initial course offered covers translation of investor relations material from Japanese to English. This is an area of translation that has grown tremendously since the Japanese financial and equity markets were deregulated recently. The on-line course materials were developed by Kepot Corporation for delivery via it’s e-learning portal horsefrog.com. Translators wishing to upgrade their skills take the course on-line, which not only introduces them to the necessary business background required for IR translations, but also gives them practical examples of translation. Upon successful completion of the course, the graduates will be offered the chance to list with Elanex as an approved IR translator. This saves the translator from the often unpleasant experience of selling their services to clients directly. According to James Phillips, the president of Keypot Corporation, “This is a great development. Not only is the course fun to take but the tie-in provides tangible benefits to the student upon completion. We are confident that it will be very successful“. Robert Gumley, regional manager of Elanex Japan, says “We are very excited by this new development. The demand for translators who can work in this field is growing at an astonishing rate and it is very hard to find good experienced translators. We have high hopes that the courses offered will provide the qualified translators we require.”

Keypot Corporation, a Tokyo-based e-learning company, and Elanex (www.elanex.biz), a global translation company with headquarters in San Francisco, have cooperated to create a new system that enables
