July 13, 2007 (Press Release) --
Yesterday July 12th, 2008. Governor Charlie Crist acknowledged that there is a global warming problem that is affecting the environment in a potential devastating way. Many environmental activists want us to start small and work our way to a new greener world. Part of the solution as we see it is the Greener PC. With over 35 million tons of CO2 (Green House Gas) (CO2 from computers is generated by the heat) being created each year in the United States alone, we need to start looking at and testing solutions. The Florida Linux Show 2008 is trying to do its part in response to the Florida Summit on Global Climate Change call for action. The Florida Linux Show 2008 will begin the process of educating, informing and otherwise making information available on the Greener PC that runs Linux. The Linux operating system runs about 50% cooler than other operating systems. It is acknowledged that although Linux, in some circumstances may not be an appropriate operating system depending on your business application, in many instances it is. As a promoter of Linux and Linux products the Florida Linux Show 2008, will also provide environmentally responsible, intellectual, and money saving information for both businesses and individuals. The Florida Linux Show 2008 is leading Governor Charlie Crist’s call for action in Jacksonville, Florida. Show Chairman, Don Corbet and others will demonstrate and speak on a greener kind of PC using Linux.
