The PlayStation Portable console will be 33 percent lighter and 19 percent slimmer than the original version. In addition, it features 4.3-inch wide high resolution LCD screen. The handheld device is pretty handy with reduced weight to 180g from 280g, enabling the gamers to carry it with ease.
With the basic functions and new design, PSP features a video-out port. Users can stream video to a standard TV, allowing to watch high-quality UMD video, picture and movies from Memory Stick Duo and game software on their TVs at home.
Moreover, PSP also enables the gamers to transfer data via USB cable while charging the unit through PLAYSTATION 3 or PC via USB. The slimmer device provides with an improvised features, which allows gamers to store game data temporarily from UMD. This reduces the time during game play.
Sony has also revealed a collector's edition PSP Ceramic White, including a Darth Vader silk-screen on the unit, as well as that the PSP exclusive title, Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron will be featured in Star Wars Battlefront PSP Entertainment Pack.
Available in three colors such as Piano Black, Ceramic White and Ice Silver, the Sony PSP will starts its shipment from September 2007 in Japan, North America and Europe.
Sony has planned to first release the latest PSP in North America with limited edition Daxter PSP Entertainment Pack on September 10. Next in the line is the limited-release of Star Wars Battlefront PSP Entertainment Pack on October 9th, for $200 (approx. Rs. 8000). The launch date of other regions is yet to be announced.
