July 20, 2007 (Press Release) --
Columbia, MD- July 20, 2007 – GTCO CalComp has updated the design and manufacture of all standard digitizer products to comply with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) 2002/95/EC. This directive restricts the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment. It is closely linked with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) 2002/96/EC which sets collection, recycling and recovery targets for electrical goods and is part of a legislative initiative to solve the problem of huge amounts of toxic e-waste. All new GTCO CalComp products now meet the restriction on the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.
GTCO CalComp has also established the necessary procedures to comply with the European Community Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) 2002/96/EC. GTCO CalComp Peripherals is proud of our compliance to the RoHS and WEEE directives and is working diligently to ensure our products meet and exceed environmental regulations around the world. Other countries, including the United States, are in the process of adopting similar requirements so it is only a matter of time before RoHS and WEEE requirements are universal.
