July 24, 2007 (Press Release) --
The tragedy of death occurs in every family and affects every individual. Many things are often left unsaid to loved ones and friends.
Though many people do prepare a Last Will and Testament, they often wish they could say or do more at the personal level to comfort their loved ones. Footsteps.tv is providing a free service that enables any individual to do just that - to leave a trail behind to their loved ones with messages of comfort, inspiration, or instruction.
The company's founders, Fernando and Alejandro Gomez Pimienta, feel the service will fill a wide gap in bereavement care and services.
Gomez Pimienta states, "In a Last Will there are only so many things a person can write, and their wishes and statements are usually read aloud to a group of family members, not to individuals. Footsteps.tv goes a step further to enable a person to leave personal messages to each individual family member or friend with total privacy in mind".
Individuals who wish to use the service may do so easily online. The account comes with 100 mb of storage space and will be active for 99 years.
"We tried very hard to design a simple, safe, powerful, and yet flexible system. After opening a account, the user names Beneficiaries and creates messages for them. These messages can include any kind of computer files" says Gomez Pimienta.
The account is activated by what’s called “Virtual Angels.” They close the loop and make the system work. They are two or three of the user's closest friends, co-workers, or family members that would know right away if something happens. They get an encrypted code and instructions for later activation.
The primary reason for an account activation is death, but that's not the only one. The system may be setup for anything. It's up to the user and the Virtual Angels to decide what's grounds for account activation. Accident, coma, sickness, missing, etc.
Footsteps.tv is for people of any age and lifestyle. "We don't like to think about something bad happening, but it's life, and things happen. We allow anyone to be ready in safe and new ways, from keeping important information safe to helping loved ones with closure in the time when they will need it the most," says Gomez Pimienta.
The system is also very easy and user-friendly. There is a help section and a FAQ.
To protect personal files and information, Footsteps.tv has taken several steps to ensure security and privacy for each individual user.
"To keep messages and information safe we've encrypted the site using SSL tech. Files and messages are also encrypted and only the user has access. Trust and privacy are very important. That's why the Footsteps.tv Web site has undergone intense analysis to obtain the Network Solutions SAFESITE Certificate and seal," says Gomez Pimienta.
