July 25, 2007 (Press Release) --
A solo artist with an infectious, percussive fingerpicking guitar style and poignant lyrical prowess, Boston's Ryan Montbleau quickly gained regional notoriety as a powerful songsmith. Montbleau's unique sound and charismatic performances were enough to convince a handful of the top local players to join the cause. With the addition of brothers Jason and James Cohen (keys and drums), Matt Giannaros (electric and acoustic bass) and Lawrence Scudder (viola), the Ryan Montbleau band took shape and hit the road. The past two years have been an endless tour of club, theater and festival dates from Chicago to Atlanta to Portland, Maine.
The slightly off-center instrumentation and combination of classic and contemporary sounds is the perfect compliment to Ryan's words and songs. Deeply infused with analogy and prose, while offering a glimpse of light into human emotion, devotion and a deep-rooted instinct to strive for something higher, Ryan's storylines are chalk full of quintessential one-liners. In the context of his top shelf band, the songs breathe with the depth of a classic poet, coyly camouflaged by the upbeat --often funky--and always uplifting live performances.
Ryan Montbleau Band's independent debut studio effort, One Fine Color, was released this past Valentine's Day and has been selling briskly, bolstered in part by the band's touring, radio play
and strong reviews throughout North America. Thanks to online distribution, CDs are even selling in Europe, Scandinavia and Japan.
