Developing the skill of crafting good emails is very worthwhile in Lead Generation. Often, email is the first contact leads have with the business owner, so making a good impression is essential.
Make the copy in your email personal. The reader should feel that you are talking to them, not to a group of people. Lead generation results are enhanced when the reader can make a personal connection with the writer. They feel you understand them.
In order to get leads to read the email, avoid making the length of the email too long. If too much information is given, the reader will discard the email before finishing it. Everyone is busy, and unless the email copy is really compelling to the reader, they won’t finish it.
The subject line in the email is very important to get good lead generation results. The email won’t get opened if the subject line is not compelling or interesting. Once a relationship is established with the reader, the writer using their name in the subject line is often sufficient to get the email opened, but prior to that, careful thought needs to be put into the choice of subject line.
An essential aspect of lead generation through email marketing is to get the reader to take a specific action, ie. Click on the link in your email. Placing a hyperlink close to the top of the email with a “call to action” will assist in achieving this.
