United States of America (Press Release) August 4, 2007 --
Walnut, CA August 3, 2007— Multi-Monde Productions in Canada and American AMP, an advertising, marketing and promotions company in the US, have teamed up to begin a promotions and marketing campaign that aims to help with the growing problem of eating disorders in teens in America. American AMP, an up-and-coming company, played a major role in the success of such movie blockbusters as Disney/Walden Media’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ, and Universal’s United 93. In the music industry, American AMP has been responsible for promoting and marketing hundreds of major and independent label recording artists from various genres, including three Bob Marley CD’s and three Marley box-sets for JAD Records International.
As a part of the campaign American AMP President Rudy Chavarria Jr had the idea to place the My Friend Ana movie trailer, under the My Friend Ana category on YOUTUBE. “When we first sent in the My Friend Ana trailer in YOUTUBE, you couldn’t find it. You would have to search for it” Chavarria stated. “Now, it’s at #1 and we are all very excited. I just hope that people are getting Laura’s message about how bad eating disorders are” Chavarria concluded.
Director / Writer / Producer Laura Turek stated, “We are so thrilled that teens are checking out the video. I can only hope that our message will catch on and that girls will realize how scary pro-anorexic websites and ideas can be.”
“We are really trying to team up with Eating Disorder organizations to use the MY FRIEND ANA YOUTUBE link to send out to their colleagues, students and parents. The response have been slow, but is building” Chavarria commented.
Turek concluded, “Our mission is far from complete. But we’re going to get there one click at a time.”
