FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) August 7, 2007 -- Legend Press has announced a special price deal exclusively for independent bookshops across its whole catalogue. The promotion will allow independents to compete on discount with the chains and the move follows hot on the heels of the news (published in The Bookseller on 27th July) that Legend Press has been working with Eye Books on an industry-wide initiative to sell a diverse range of independently-published titles in independent bookshops, offering high discounts, POS and event liaison.

Legend Press’s offer on its own titles is a further demonstration that the company is wholly committed to its drive to bring the independent sectors closer in line and working together. Across its full, diverse range of cutting-edge, acclaimed mainstream fiction, Legend Press is offering the following scaled discounts exclusively for independent bookshop orders:

1) Orders of 1-2 per title: 50% discount
2) Orders of 3-4 per title: 55% discount
3) Orders of 5-9 per title: 60% discount
4) Orders of 10+ per title: 70% discount

While Legend Press is stocked and promoted by the major wholesalers, the publisher has put a great deal of work into setting-up the appropriate infrastructure and accounts to deal directly with independent bookshops, thereby allowing an improved deal all-round.

Tom Chalmers, Managing Director of Legend Press, commented: “We have long said that independent bookshops and independent publishers should be natural allies in their battle to gain market share from their sizable competitors. With this deal independent bookshops can have access to our fantastic range of fiction at prices to compete with the chains – correcting a discrepancy they have long highlighted as an impediment to their business.

“We’re extremely keen to work with the independents and are starting to do so with increasing regularity. We believe this is the type of price promotion that should be snapped up by the independents and we’re hoping for an excellent take-up. We look forward to months and years of success in conjunction with the many great independent bookshops.”
