I survived being set loose into a small wooded area in Albany, NY during the time when all the Noreasters came through. I was out in below freezing temperatures for 8 days trying to find food, water and shelter. I am a tropical creature and I was only 14 weeks old when this happened. I have healed from severe frostbite to my nose and tail tip. All 4 feet had to have radical surgeries performed, including skin grafting surgery to save what could be saved. If I had not been sold to a homeless man who did not have a choice; due to having to find shelter for himself, I would most likely still be in one piece. I have veryyyyy expensive medical bills and I have only been here in Doc Sandy’s care since the 25th of March 2007. I now look very different thanks to Doc Sandy and her loving staff at Lake Wheeler Veterinary Hospital.

I have received skin grafts to cover the stumps of my severely frost bitten feet, my tail has healed where it had to have 3 inches removed, due to frost bite, and my nose is almost completely normal looking where it has healed from the frost bite injuries to the end of my nose leather.

I want to remind everyone out there, from breeders to pet store owners/staff and potential new owners that it is everyone’s responsibility to know what their limitations are and what type of pet is appropriate for their lifestyle. No animal should have to go through what I have survived; due to human negligence.

If anyone out there cares to make a donation to help out LAFF for Coatimundis please send your donations in care of:

Lake Wheeler Veterinary Hospital
2720-105 Lake Wheeler Rd.
Raleigh, NC 27603

Donations to LAAF {Logan And Abbey Fund} are tax deductible. For more info on monetary donations please visit my website.

Thank you.

See how great I look now and read my blog at Dory & the Orphans website.
