Empowering Medical Students and Residents

August 13, 2007

CustomResidency.com is the solution to medical student woes. The subscription service helps medical students and residents choose a residency or fellowship program and match to their ideal program.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) August 13, 2007 -- A solution is finally here for medical students and residents applying to residency and fellowship programs. After years of confusion a complete interactive website, http://customresidency.com is now available to help medical students and residents match to their dream program.

CustomResidency.com is an online residency and fellowship guide and database.
It provides:
• An interactive database of all allopathic and osteopathic residency and fellowship programs.
• Expert forums where questions are answered by a team of professionals.

• Guides, checklists, and tips for the application and preparing for residency/fellowship.
• A writing department to correct personal statements and CVs.

The Creation
Custom Residency was founded by a medical student who personally experienced the confusion and frustration of preparing for the residency match, “I was dissatisfied with the information available.” says founder Beau Braden. “I wanted students to have options when they are forced to participate in a mandatory match. I see Custom Residency as a way to give medical students and residents the knowledge and resources to better prepare for their future.”

Custom Residency’s Benefits

Custom Residency provides its members with an extensive range of information. Members may search and compare statistics from over 9000 residency and fellowship programs. A mapping feature allows members to map where programs from a certain specialty are located. The ERAS simulation helps members prepare for the electronic residency application service before they receive the credentials to access the site. An extensive resource section provides checklists and guides for the application process, interviewing, writing a resume and much more. The resource section also contains vital information for international medical graduates (IMGs) applying to US residency programs. The community side of the site provides members with an expert forum where all members may ask questions about residency and receive an expert answer from a custom residency staff member.

Changing the future of Medical Students and Residents
The mission of Custom Residency is to help applicants find the program that fits them best and get accepted to their program of choice. Many residents are miserable in residency because they weren’t informed enough to get into the program that fit them and their career objectives best. “We don’t want anyone to regret choosing a career in medicine” says Beau Braden, “We want residents to be successful and fulfilled.”
