BCD Music Group forms a partnership with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and brings popular comedian, Rickey Smiley in to meet fans.

• Kingwood TX, August 14th, 2007: With the newly formed partnership between Distribution Company BCD Music Group and Wal-Mart Stores Inc., comedian Rickey Smiley will soon begin making in-store appearances at select Wal-Mart stores to meet fans of his new comedy cd release. BCD Music Group, a Houston based music distribution company, has recently added the Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to its list of major distribution outlets. BCD Music Group plans to expand into genres of entertainment beyond the company’s mainly Rap/Hip Hop based titles, to include comedic talent. Rickey Smiley will be one of the main titles that BCD Music Group will promote with the kick-off of the joint marketing effort with Wal-Mart.
• Rickey Smiley is perhaps best known as the host of the BET television shows: “Comic View” and “The Way We Do It”. Smiley has even appeared in films such as 2002’s “Friday After Next”. Currently, he can be heard weekdays from 6:00am to 10:00am on Dallas’s 97.9 The Beat- Hip Hop radio station.
• “Because BCD carries primarily hip hop titles, it has been difficult to get distribution in some stores, but Wal-Mart has made a huge commitment to Ricky” says BCD Music Group Managing Director, Harald Blakeslee. He refers to the fact that Wal-Mart generally carries only non-explicit titles. However, after working the comedy circuit for over twelve years, Rickey Smiley has established himself as a clean comic. Smiley plans to begin his tour at Wal-Mart Stores in Memphis, Tennessee on September 7th. Smiley is also scheduled to appear in Mobile, Alabama September 8th, San Jose, California on September 21-23 and in his hometown of Dallas, Texas on September 29th.
