Agnihotra is a very ancient practice of environmental purification that has been revived in the last decades by a Saint from Akkalkot, India known as Shri. This practice has a measurable influence on purifying the air quality and even research has shown it is a boon for mental and physical health. Scientists in Haridwar have analysed the smoke released from the practice of Agnihotra which involves burning dried cow dung, rice and ghee in a pure copper pyramid. The research results are very favourable and they show that this simple daily practice (which is done in the morning at sunrise and the evening at sunset) have a balancing and purifying effect on the immediate surroundings where it is performed.

Vedic Society has released on 4th September 2007 an application called Agnihotra for Windows. This program runs on any Windows PC and it facilitates the easy daily practice of Agnihotra by doing all the work of calculating the exact timings for practice of Agnihotra on any given day. It also teaches you how to perform Agnihotra and has a training mode where you can learn the Sanskrit mantras used for the morning or evening practice of Agnihotra.

The program has the following features:

• Runs in your system tray and pops up reminders each day before Agnihotra
• Supports a training mode to learn the mantras in case you are new to Agnihotra
• Monthly and Yearly calendars to print or e-mail for any location in the word
• Accurate calculations of sunrise and sunset timings for all places on earth
