United States of America (Press Release) September 5, 2007 --
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 5, 2007
Started more than 10 years ago, The Russian Orphan Lighthouse Project, has brought more than 300 Russian orphans to the US for hosting by local families on 10 day vacation trips, resulting in 90% of the children having been adopted.
Philadelphia, PA area families are sought for another upcoming trip, November 2-12, 2007 to host a group of nine Russian orphans.
The children, who speak no English, are accompanied by an orphanage official and a translator. Daily vacation bible school and other activities are planned for the group. There is a $600 fee per child hosted to partially cover the children's transportation expenses. One parent must agree to be at home full-time during the 10 day visit.
Families living in other parts of the US are welcome to host if they are willing to come to the Philadelphia area and stay in a motel or be hosted by Lighthouse Project members.
The Project is affiliated with an accredited adoption agency and has facilitated over 800 adoptions in Russia since 1993.
The group is also seeking donations for the orphans, from cold medicine and toothbrushes to quilts, sweaters, coats, shoes, and gently used suitcases. Financial aid is also appreciated and will be donated back to the orphanages.
