Spain, Spanish State (Press Release) September 6, 2007 --
Weekend Dance is a new music festival which will take place in consecutive days in Madrid and Barcelona on the 14th and 15th of September. The most innovative and representative artists of electronic and dance music will be performing on these days. In Madrid the festival will take place at Auditorio Juan Carlos I, and in Barcelona it will be at the El Parc del Forum.
The lineup of artists is very impressive for a new festival looking to establish itself in an already highly competitive market. There are already many festivals in Madrid and Barcelona is home to the world famous Sonar festival which takes place in June and the newly established Summercase festival taking place in July. The festival boasts the cult Trip Hop group Massive Attack, led by the singer Robert 3D Del Naja; as a group they are true pioneers of the Bristol sound, as they brought soul to electronica with their sensual mixture of hip hop, soul melodies, dub grooves and samples. Their debut album, "Blue Lines" (1991), has become an undisputed classic and brought about the birth of bands like Portishead and Morcheeba.
Faithless are a British group whose music is described by the band as a cross between hip hop and dance. While they are mostly famous for their dance songs ("Insomnia" "God is a DJ" and "We Come 1"), they try to produce albums which offer a blend of styles. Ten years of experience, a good dozen chart-topping hits, five original albums, three albums of remixes, thousands of concerts, millions of copies sold... With the huge appeal of their spectacular live performances, Faithless have become to house what Massive Attack are to hip-hop: a band that can move your heart, your eyes, your head and your feet.
Amongst the other artists performing include: Deep Dish, Vitalic (live), Sven Väth, 2ManyDJs, Hernan Cattaneo, Dizzee Rascal and many more.
Ticket prices started at €35 but have steadily risen as the even draws nearer. At the moment tickets are €45 until 9th September.
In Madrid the doors open at 5pm and in Barcelona.
