Loss Mitigation is an alternative to Foreclosure which Stops Foreclosure. Loss Mitigation is a process whereby a company like GPS attempts to reduce losses associated with mortgage delinquencies by partnering with homeowners and their lenders in an effort to find a reasonable alternative to foreclosure and other hardships which are causing pending property problems. GPS only seeks solutions that will be acceptable to all parties. The GPS Approach
At GPS, we provide every delinquent borrower with a free, confidential consultation. Our trained counselors will work with the borrower in order to analyze their situation and review their specific alternatives. Based on the results of that meeting, if it appears that GPS can be of further assistance, the case will be assigned to a GPS Workout Specialist. From there a sophisticated financial analysis is performed. Once GPS determines the loss mitigation alternative that appears to
be most beneficial to all parties, we take action to gain agreement on this solution from the borrower’s lender(s) in a timely and cost-effective manner.
What Alternatives Does GPS Consider?
Obviously, the options available depend highly on the borrower’s current financial situation and their goal for the property. If the borrower has a high desire to remain in their home, GPS works
to complete a forbearance or modification agreement with the lender in order to put the mortgage back on track. If the borrower will be forced to give up this property (for financial,
personal, or other reasons), GPS will work on behalf of our pool of investors to put together a fair and reasonable offer to purchase the property in a pre-foreclosure or short payoff sale from the borrower’s lender(s).
