United States of America (Press Release) September 10, 2007 --
Milton, DE - Does the end of summer fill you with dread? Instead, celebrate the start of Fall with the Art of Heather Levy and the music of the Basso Moderno Duo at the "Flights of Fancy" closing party, September 22, 3-5 PM, at 205 Lavinia Street, Milton DE 19968. Admission is Free.
Rapt from the revelry of the August 11 opening, 205 Lavinia Gallery is pleased to present the closing party of "Flights of Fancy", a whimsical look at the miracle of flight, both literally and figuratively, featuring paintings by Heather Levy. It will include several new works not exhibited at the opening reception.
A lifelong passionate painter, Ms. Levy considers herself a modern philosopher with her work drawing from her experience and education in New York, Boston, France and Spain. Each of her paintings contain a theory, notion or hypothesis. Her work has appeared in group and solo exhibitions in many cities including New York City and Washington, DC. She has had her work displayed on a billboard in Manhattan and on a cd cover for a Los Angeles based musician. Upcoming events include a group exhibition in a gallery in Berlin, Germany, and a solo exhibition at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. A multi-disciplinary artist, Ms. Levy also creates music videos and short films. Find her on line at http://www.HeatherLevy.com .
Called "Truly Excellent" and "Memorable" by the Washington Post, the Basso Moderno Duo is excited to partner with Heather Levy and 205 Lavinia Street Gallery. The Basso Moderno Duo has commissioned over 100 lyrical works for solo bass and piano by some of the world's most prominent and exciting living composers from 37 countries and all 7 continents. Solo bassist, Dr. Allan Von Schenkel's, soulful virtuosic style is the perfect compliment to the focused intensity of Kristen Williams' piano playing. Their future engagements include a tour of Spain and Italy in October 2007. For more information, visit http://www.solobass.org.
