(September 13, 2007) MONMOUTH, NJ: Monmouth County's own School of Rock will bring down the house with legendary Funk Patriarch, George Clinton and his band P-Funk on September 21 at the Starland Ballroom in Sayerville, NJ. School of Rock will hit the stage at 8:15pm followed by George Clinton at 9:30pm
The School of Rock band will open the night with their Tribute to Funk and Reggae performance, paying homage to legendary trailblazers of funk, reggae and soul music, including Bob Marley, James Brown, P-Funk and Aretha Franklin. The School of Rock branches across the country have studied and covered Clinton's music for years, making this a particularity exciting opportunity for the Monmouth County branch.
"This is an unbelievable experience to perform with a real legend." says Karlee Bloomfield 14 Ocean,NJ. Karlee has been a keyboard student at the Monmouth County School of Rock since January.
George Clinton, has remained one of the greatest innovators of urban based soul, rock and funk over the last forty years, releasing over 36 albums and touring the world religiously from the 60's to date. He was the mastermind of the bands Parliament and Funkadelic during the 1970s and early 1980s, and was a solo funk artist as of 1981.
The Paul Green School of Rock Music is the nation's premier performance - based rock music program informed by the idea that the best way to learn is by doing. The Monmouth County branch accepts students from ages 7-18 and has recently relocated to a brand new location on 1 Ravine Dr. Matawan, NJ.
