United States of America (Press Release) September 14, 2007 --
The annual contest is an EPA ENERGY STAR program designed to raise public awareness. ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.
The Sullivan family was selected as the 2006 winners from over 700 contest applicants. The ENERGY STAR® Makeover provided the Sullivan family a detailed energy audit, high-efficiency dual fuel heat pump for heating and cooling, high efficiency fully modulating furnace for back up heat, high efficiency tankless water heater, duct sealing and air sealing, to remove leaks and drafts, increased duct capacity, duct cleaning, low-e energy-efficient windows, R- 49 blown cellulose insulation in the attic and throughout their home, an ENERGY STAR® refrigerator and compact fluorescent lamps throughout the house.
Lee and Carisa Sullivan are thrilled with their ENERGY STAR® makeover. Their residence was transformed to an energy-efficient, safe, durable, and comfortable home with lower energy bills. Carisa is a registered nurse at Evans Army Hospital and Lee has his own landscaping business. They came from Texas, not anticipating that a home in Colorado Springs could be so leaky and cold throughout. "Our house was so drafty and cold, and we were struggling to fix the problems one at a time. Now, every room in our house is comfortable and we don't have to dress in winter layers indoors," states Carisa Sullivan.
Three 2007 Energy Makeover winners will win between $20,000 and $50,000 worth of energy efficiency or solar energy upgrades. Their energy bills will drop by 20% to 80%, saving them hundreds or thousands of dollars in energy costs!
If you live in the Colorado Springs area, you may be eligible to win! Application deadline is September 17, 2007 at 5:00 p.m.. Contact Colorado Springs Utilities to enter the contest.
SCC Electrical will be providing all required electrical services to the 2007 Colorado Springs, Colorado contest winners.
