United States of America (Press Release) September 17, 2007 --
September is Recovery Month and the Symposium: Beyond Talk Therapy - New Frontiers in Addiction Treatment, brings together for the first time the top clinicians in the country who have successfully treated alcohol and other addictions as well as mental health conditions with targeted nutritional supplements, nutritious food, acupuncture, acupressure, and other drug-free methods to correct brain chemistry.
These techniques have previously been ignored even though there have been placebo controlled double blind studies in the medical literature for fifty years proving their cost effectiveness.
In addition to nutrition, speakers will discuss simple techniques that involve both hemispheres of the brain to treat addictions and reduces post traumatic stress. They will cover natural pain relief and alternatives to drugs for insomnia, depression, anxiety, and cravings. They will remind listeners of published research proving nutrient therapy reduces rule infranctions and violence up to 95% in jails and schools. Many of the techniques covered can be used on immediately in registrants' own professional and private lives.
The symposium is sponsored by the California Endowment, Sacramento Magazine, Yo San University, National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) and Bridging the Gaps treatment program and is hosted by Community Addiction Recovery Association (CARA), a Sacramento nonprofit.
The public is invited and continuing education hours are available for registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, health educators, social workers, marriage-family therapists, nutritionists, California licensed acupuncturists, addiction counselors and drug educators.
