India, Republic of (Press Release) September 27, 2007 --
Sri Anjaneya Agrotech, a leading manufacturer of refined rice bran oil in India with their flagship product – Akshath, received an award for being “The Largest Processor of Rice Bran Oil in India” by the Solvent Extractors Association of India at the AGM held in Goa followed by ‘GLOBOIL’- the 11th International conference and exhibition of vegetable oil, feed ingredients oilseed and related industries, hosted at Goa. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Shree Digambar Kamat presented the prestigious award to A K Prashanth, Managing Director, Sri Anjaneya Agrotech. Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries & Food, Government of Argentina,Mr. Fernando Nebbia was also present at the occasion. The award is being conferred to Sri Anjaneya for their total extraction of 1 lac 6 thousand metric tonnes of crude oil in the year 2006-07. Their plant capacity is 500 tonnes of crude rice bran oil per day (TPD). With manufacturing capacity of 100 TPD of refined Rice Bran Oil, the company is second largest in this category.
A K Prashanth, Managing Director, on the occasion says, “Being awarded at such a reputed forum, makes us not only delighted but also encourages us to deliver the best quality product to the customers. Also, this recognition has further strengthened our belief that the time is not too far away when people will recognize the health benefits of RBO and there will be a wider market for Akshath.” He further added, “We came into this segment with a vision to make RBO one of the most widely used edible oil across all categories and I think we are on the right track.” So far RBO was being used for non-edible purpose. In the last few years, this trend is slowly changing.
Harish Agarwal, Marketing Head, Sri Anjaneya Agrotech adds on the future plans, “Today sales of Akshath accounts for very minimal use of our capacity of 100 TPD. We would like to see a time when our entire produce is sold under Akshath and not as loose oil or to small resellers. Once that happens we would go for capacity expansion and see to it that our product reaches a wider audience outside Karnataka. We are working towards being the largest players in this segment.”
Sri Anjaneya Agrotech has been earlier honored by the Solvent Extractors Association of India as the “Second largest manufacturers of Refined Rice Bran Oil in India” at the 10th National Seminar on Rice Bran Oil held in Chennai this year. In a short span since its inception Akshath oil has become the choice of most of the household. Since Akshath is manufactured and packaged at the same location, it ensures 100% quality and zero adulteration. Akshath oil was initially introduced in Davangere and now it is available in Bangalore and other parts of Karnataka.
