The 9th Annual Screen Door Open Charity Pro-AM Golf Tournament will be held on October 26, 2007 at the Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas, Texas. The event’s trademarked slogan is...”Not Just Another Charity Golf Tournament”.
The Screen Door Open brings the focus of playing golf back into the charity golf tournament. Since 1999 the SDO’s missions has been to raise funds for junior golf programs that teach all of the positive aspects of the game of golf provides. The SDO by organizing golf tournaments that features the game of golf instead of the fundraising machines other charity golf tournaments become.
“Golf offers kids a healthier alternative to sitting in front of a video game terminal all day”, reports Scot Duke, President of Innovative Business Golf Solutions and Tournament Director/President of Screen Door Open Charity, Inc.
One of the key features of the SDO Pro-AM is junior golfers who participate in the programs supported by the funds raised by the SDO are placed on different holes to demonstrate the golf skills they have learned.
The tournament is for adult amateurs and members of the PGA. Instead of playing the usually ‘hit and giggle’ scramble, the SDO Pro-Am format is a Shamble with a modified stapleford scoring of the team’s best Net ball.
This limited field event is currently taking registrations for players and sponsors.
Proceeds raised from this officially sanctioned PGA Pro-AM go to supporting the Northern Texas PGA Junior Golf Foundation. Over the past 9 years the funds raised from the SDO have help reach over 30,000 boys and girls who otherwise may not be provided the opportunity to learn to play golf.
