United States of America (Press Release) September 27, 2007 --
Independent filmmakers spent almost three years having doors slammed in their faces by the collective Hollywood machine as they tried desperately to deliver their indie screenplay to mega-star Johnny Depp. The journey was captured in the compelling documentary playfully entitled "Do it for Johnny".
Now, it seems that the same town that had been the frustrating antagonist of the documentary, has ironically not only taken note, but perhaps even opened it's arms to these unconventional, maverick filmmakers.
The documentary “Do it for Johnny” has been accepted into the 2007 Hollywood Film Festival. It will screen this October as part of the festival repertoire.
With the HFF being one of the most celebrity attended fests in California, the filmmakers can only wonder if Johnny Depp might be on hand to get a front-row glimpse of just what exactly these driven young filmmakers went through, just to seek him out.
“Do it for Johnny” will screen Friday, October 19th 2007 at 9pm. The screenings will take place at Arclight Cinemas located at 6360 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles. (On Sunset Blvd. between Vine and Ivar). Tickets will go on sale October 10th, online at http://www.ArclightCinemas.com.
