Singapore - October 2, 2007 – Streaming21, the world’s leader in broadcast-quality streaming solutions, launches a new research and development center today in Singapore. The Center will focus on the design and development of its core products for IPTV, Mobile TV and Digital Home solutions. The establishment of Streaming21’s new R&D center has received strong support from the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), the lead government agency in Singapore responsible for planning and executing economic strategies to enhance Singapore's position as a global hub for business and investment.
Jacqueline Tan, Deputy Director, Infocomms & Media Division of the Economic Development Board said, “The EDB welcomes Streaming21’s decision to base its Asia Pacific R&D Center for its IPTV and Mobile TV technology development in Singapore. Streaming21’s presence here reinforces the steps which Singapore is taking in media technology-related R&D as part of a larger National effort in the Interactive and Digital Media (IDM) industry.”
Streaming21’s global presence now spans the United States, Taiwan, Japan, China and Singapore. The Company’s end-to-end IPTV solution has been deployed by tier 1 telcos and IPTV service providers across these markets. Key clients include NTT Communications, NEO Index, VIC TOKAI, Enterwave and TEPCO in Japan; KT (Korea Telecom) in South Korea; and Chunghwa Telecom in Taiwan.
Streaming21 has appointed Horng-Juing Lee, co-founder and VP of Engineering, as head of the Singapore R&D Center. Lee is a proven technology executive with substantial expertise in the area of distributed multimedia and IPTV core engine development in the U.S. and Asia Pacific. With over 20 years of technical experience in the area of streaming and IP communications, he has a solid history of leading multinational engineering teams to build and maintain the highest levels of customer satisfaction on large-scale service delivery. Lee has published more than 20 journal and conference papers and holds multiple international patents.
