United States of America (Press Release) October 9, 2007 --
What is the #1 problem of today’s parents? Many say that it is raising a positive child in a negative society -- in other words, raising a child with strong character in a society that seems increasingly bent on exalting negative character traits and negative behavior. Nearly half of the parents surveyed in a recent Public Agenda poll said that they worry more about protecting their children from negative social influences than about paying their bills or having enough family time together.
To make matters worse, parents also fear that they may not be getting the job done. In the same survey, 83% said that they think it is “absolutely essential” to raise their children to have self-control and self-discipline, but only 34% think that they have succeeded.
“In talking with parents, one thing that becomes very clear is that they are searching for a way to instill strong character traits in their children in such a way that doesn’t tax their already busy and harried family schedules”, said Denny Strecker, owner of Denny Strecker’s Karate. “That’s exactly why we’re here. We provide the character education that is lacking in other children’s activities. We’ve been doing this since 1996, but we have now started a brand new, revolutionary character education system that builds rock-solid character in children, in a way that has never been done before.”
With this new “Character for Kids” system, created by a child psychologist, kids work to earn character bars -- along the lines of military bars -- through a rank system that is very similar to the belt ranking system in martial arts. Just like a child can take martial arts and become a black belt in that martial art style, they can now take martial arts at Denny Strecker’s Karate and become a black bar in character.
With this new service at Denny Strecker’s Karate, parents now have at their disposal a ground-breaking character building service that:
* Kids think is “cool.”
* Is NOT based on ineffective lectures. Kids earn their character bars by carrying out certain actions at home and at school.
* Comes with an accompanying children’s martial art program that teaches safety, confidence, and focus.
* Does not pit “parent against child” -- no nagging or scolding involved. The parent is simply a cheerleader for their child as the child progresses through the different character bars.
