HobbyTron.com Announces Availability of Silverlit Palm Z Mini RC Airplane — the Next Big Thing

October 10, 2007

HobbyTron.com is one of the few Web sites for holiday shoppers looking to buy the Palm Z, a lightweight, ultra-durable, fit-in-the-palm-of-your-hand-sized RC airplane

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) October 10, 2007 -- HobbyTron.com today announced the availability of the Silverlit Palm Z mini indoor RC airplane through its Web site, www.hobbytron.com. HobbyTron.com will be one of the few retailers with the Palm Z in stock for this holiday season.

Representing the next step in mini RC, the Palm Z is small enough to hold on the palm of one’s hand. Building off the tremendous success of the Picco Z mini RC helicopter during the 2006 holiday season, the Palm Z promises to be this year’s hottest RC item.

“The Palm Z is one of the most innovative mini RC products we’ve seen,” said Jim Royer, president of HobbyTron.com. “The Palm Z brings the fun of RC plane flying to flyers of all ages, skill levels and definitely budgets.”

Weighing around 10 grams, the Palm Z is powered by a micro motor that “pushes” the Palm Z through the air, while steering is accomplished by electromagnetic currents that move the tail rudder from left to right and vice versa. The Palm Z represents great strides in affordable, micro technology. The airplane is designed to be flown indoors, and the polypropylene foam body can withstand most crashes, although each Palm Z includes repair tape for any minor collisions.

In addition, the Palm Z is very easy to use as it is designed for the novice and expert pilot alike, and comes virtually ready to fly right out of the box with no assembly required. (An initial charge of 20-30 minutes is required before the first flight and six AA batteries are required for the controller/charger.)

“This is the perfect gift for any gadget lover,” said Royer. “The Palm Z is also a great way to break the office monotony or when larger RC planes are ‘grounded’ during the winter months. The Palm Z is small enough to fly around most offices and living rooms, challenging even the most skilled pilots.”

Each Palm Z ships with a two-channel, infrared controller that allows for throttle up and down, left and right (or yaw) movements. The controller also doubles as a portable charger to refuel between flights in as few as five minutes.

Specifications:
• Measurements: Wingspan: 8-inches, Overall length: 7.25-inches, Propeller diameter: 2.5-inches;
• RC Airplane weight: 10grams, including lithium polymer (Li-Poly) battery;
• Rechargeable flight battery: High capacity integral Li-Poly battery;
• Charger: Integral transmitter/charger supplied with LED indicator/auto shut off. RC Plane sits on transmitter to charge;
• Charge time: Typically 15 to 20 minutes for a full charge;
• Flight duration: Typically 8 to 10 minutes on a full charge; and

• Range: Up to 100 feet (30 meters). Frequency: infrared remote control system — bands A, B & C allow up to three models to be flown at the same time.

Palm Zs are currently available from HobbyTron.com in three different colors: green, blue and yellow. Each color represents a different frequency thereby allowing three users to fly as many airplanes at one time. The Palm Z is available from HobbyTron.com for $39.50.
