Influential Leaders Welcome the New Pastor of
Calvary Baptist Church of Glenwood
Glenwood, Illinois- October 3 Calvary Baptist Church of Glenwood is in the midst of preparations for what promises to be a new era of spiritual renewal under the direction of a dynamic, young, inspirational, thought-provoking leader whom many have already claimed that “a new spiritual leader is in town.” Installation Celebration Week for the new pastor, Reverend Moses B. Herring, the third pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Glenwood, in Glenwood, Illinois will be October 18-19, 2007 @ 7:00 p.m. nightly. The installation service will be Sunday, October 21, 2007 @ 3:00 p.m.
Welcoming this dynamic leader to Calvary are guest pastors, Dr. George W. Waddles, Sr., Pastor of Zion Baptist Church Chicago, Illinois and the Dean of Congress of Christian Education of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., October 18th @ 7:00 p.m. Stephen J. Thurston, Sr., Senior Pastor of New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church Chicago, Illinois and President of the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., October 19th @ 7:00 p.m. Wallace B. Herring, Sr., Pastor of Glorious Hope Baptist Church Macon, Georgia, will be the guest speaker on October 21st @ 10:30 a.m. Dr. Isaac L. Floyd, Pastor of Joy Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church Lansing, Illinois and President of United Baptist State Convention of Illinois, will administer the charge to Pastor Herring and Booker Person, Pastor of Holy Bible Cathedral Baptist Church Chicago, Illinois will administer the charge to Calvary Baptist Church of Glenwood during the installation service. One of the most powerful, influential leaders of his time within the African American community, E. Dewey Smith, Jr., Pastor of Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church Macon, Georgia will officiate as the guest speaker of the installation service.
Reverend Herring was called to preach at the age of eighteen, ordained at the age of twenty, and has served congregations in both Macon and Atlanta, Georgia. Born in Macon, he received his BA in Biblical Education, completed graduate studies at Southern Christian University, matriculated at Morehouse College, and received a Masters of Divinity from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Since Pastor Herring’s first electrifying sermon, Calvary’s congregation has relish in the powerful messages from this 27 year old amazing and biblically astute young leader whom under his leadership has already increased membership. Mrs. Lacresha Herring, wife of Pastor Herring, is a graduate of Florida State University. She holds a Masters Degree in Learning Disabilities, and is currently an educator in the South Suburbs.
