English Academy opens in Las Arenas, Puerto de la Cruz
100% English Academy is the name for the new English language teaching centre that has opened in Las Arenas, Puerto de la Cruz.
Its focus is to provide English language tuition to those whose first language is not English, as well as fast track English tuition for those who want to enter the British schools in Tenerife. It also offers English and Mathematics tuition, remedial or fast track, to those approaching GCSE examinations, for those that need extra support or are seeking good grades.
For adults it offers conversation classes and teaching programmes, as well as Business English courses
The principal teacher, Noor Gardner, has commented that ´´the Academy will place emphasis on conversation and practice. Many Spanish children and adults learn the basis of English grammar at their schools but never get the chance of continuous learning through conversation in order to gain fluency and become confident speakers. Speaking, listening, reading, writing and understanding will be at the core of our teaching approach´´
The principal teacher is Noor Gardner, a native English speaker, who trained as a teacher at Oxford Brooks University, Oxford, England, specializing in English and Mathematics. She also holds an Economics degree from Lancaster University, England, and she taught at the Trinity School of Los Realejos for two years.
The Academy is located in the centre El Lagar, 400 metres towards Puerto de la Cruz from the Las Arenas roundabout.
