What is an IP camera?
An IP camera, or a network camera is not a webcam. It is a new generation of digital surveillance camera, capable of passing its images over a computer network. These cameras do not need to be attached to a PC to work they just plug into a network or a router. Network cameras are much more sophisticated than traditional analogue CCTV cameras, because of the features that they offer.
What if I want to rent out my property?
There are a number of Axis cameras that come with lens caps when purchased. So it would be possible for your tenant to cover the lens. For cameras without lens caps, you could cover them another way. As the camera's reset themselves it would be possible to unplug them.
Are there any going costs?
This depends on which package you decide to go for. Should you decide to purchase the 'Silver or 'Gold' package, then yes. There are no ongoing costs associated to the 'Bronze' package. Payments for the 'Gold' and 'Silver' will be payable by direct debit or standing order. The ongoing costs start from £15 GBP per month and this will give you access to one camera. The equipment and installation is a one off payment and will depend on the number of camera's you require, the specification of the camera's and the type of installation (wired or wireless). For more information on the package prices please click here.
What happens if the camera detects motion?
Should the camera detect a motion you will be sent an email so you can view your property. On our 'Gold' and 'Silver' packages you will even receive an SMS text message to your mobile phone which you can even view from should you be away from your computer. The server will record these images and you will be able to use these as evidence. For more information on the package prices please click here
What if there is a powercut?
If the power is accidentally switched off, or there is a power cut, the equipment is designed to reset and operate correctly. Switching on and off usually resets the system, however, should the equipment not work, we will re-visit your property and reset the camera as this is part of the service we provide to you. However, it is also possible we could re-configure your camera(s) remotely..
