La Trina Neal, author of He Gave Me Shelter: A Year of Grace, will be featured on Artistfirst World Radio Network (www.artistfirst.com) on Monday, November 12th at 4:00 p.m PST (7:00 p.m EST). La Trina will be discussing her debut autobiographical novel and how she uses proceeds from her book to support homeless organizations across the country. During the broadcast, La Trina will answer questions from callers and give signed copies of her book to lucky listeners.
He Gave Me Shelter is an account of Ms. Neal’s daunting experience in a homeless shelter, in which she was propelled like a pellet in a pinball machine from a state of homelessness to one of leadership.
"Writing this story has been one of the most challenging experiences of my life, mostly because I’ve painstakingly revealed a significant part of my inner self—my fears, my desires, and my weaknesses,” says the author. “I resolved to share my story in order to possibly comfort or inspire someone who may be in need of encouragement."
La Trina has spent several years serving the homeless. Ironically, in the midst of her curriculum at Howard University, unavoidable circumstances interrupted her education, and she found it necessary to enter a homeless shelter. Her experience at the shelter inspired her to write He Gave Me Shelter.
In order to recycle more dollars into homeless programs across the country, La Trina opted to self-publish her book and has pledged to contribute a percentage of proceeds from her novel to local and nationwide homeless efforts.
“La Trina Neal has a special gift that is both inspirational and insightful. Her accomplishment of documenting her experiences is just the tip of her abilities and discernment. The experiences she writes about in this book cannot begin to describe the depth of her humility and strength. Walking the walk of faith requires much courage and servitude. Both if these traits are exhibited in her life. As a close friend I am inspired by her light,” says Dwight Radcliff, Director of Operations, U.S. VETS (Inglewood, Calif.).
Tune in on Monday, November 12th at 7 EST for an enlightening discussion of He Gave Me Shelter: A Year of Grace.
