(Free-Press-Release.com) October 24, 2007 -- British women own a whopping 116 MILLION bras they don’t even wear, according to new research.

Which if laid end to end would stretch around the world twice.

The average UK woman has a collection of ten bras in her lingerie drawer, but the majority confess to only wearing three of their bras regularly - leaving an average seven lonely bras just gathering dust.

And the biggest reason for discarded underwear is bad fit - most women own a handful of bras which are not even the right size for them - with three quarters of ladies admitting they would wear more of their bras if they fitted properly.

But it’s no surprise there are so many unworn bras in the UK, as the poll - which was commissioned by Playtex to launch its new collection of half size bras, called Playtex MySize - found that 38 per cent of women have never been properly measured.

One in five women guess what size they are and another 37 per cent simply try on lots of different bras and pick the one which fits best.

Almost half don’t bother to try on a bra at all while out shopping for lingerie.

Worryingly, almost 13 per cent don’t think they are wearing the right size and another 43 per cent aren’t sure.

The poll, of 1,000 women, also revealed that a fed-up 69 per cent find it difficult to find a bra that fits properly.

Because of this, 70 per cent think it is a good idea to introduce half size cups to make it easier to find a bra which is not just a near fit, but a perfect fit.

Despite the nightmare, women still manage to buy an extra five bras every year, with 61 per cent saying the biggest trigger for the shopping spree is to replace their old ones.

Almost 17 per cent treat themselves to a new bra when they get a new outfit and six per cent buy underwear in preparation for a hot date,

The poll also found that while the average UK bra size is a 34B, women would prefer to be a cup size larger at 34C.

And it’s curvy TV chef Nigella Lawson who women think has the best boobs, followed by model Danielle Lloyd and newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky.
