United States of America (Press Release) October 30, 2007 --
October 29, 2007 (Dallas, Texas) – Dallas-based three-piece Texas music group, Scarsboy, has been selected as a finalist in the “Defend The Bar Band” competition sponsored by Boru Vodka and Maxim Magazine. Scarsboy entered with an original song called “Here She Comes” recounting the story of an unattractive high school girl who returns for revenge at her high school reunion looking gorgeous. The band beat out hundreds of bands from around the country to make the semi-finals in September. Online voting determined the final four contestants today and Scarsboy made the cut.
The winning band will be awarded a contract with Roadrunner Records and $10,000 worth of musical gear. The general public can vote online and be entered to win $5000.
The website to vote is www.defendthebarband.com/vote.aspx
Voting for the final round began today, October 29th, and will close tomorrow, October 30th. The winner will be chosen partially by online vote as well as a panel of judges from the music industry. The band is hoping to bring victory home to Texas.
Scarsboy is a fairly new group made up of seasoned musicians in the Texas music scene. They have beat out bands that are featured on MTV, some that tour with major musical groups and others that area already signed with major labels. Much of the success of Scarsboy’s run to the finals can be attributed to online and email marketing efforts. Lead guitar and vocalist CJ Niehoff is a singer/songwriter with a strong marketing background.
Scarsboy will be playing at Lakewood Bar and Grill in Dallas on Thursday night, following the ZZ Top Concert at Nokia Theater. This event will have promotional support from Boru Vodka.
