Derrick Wimmer, a product of Whitefish Bay Dominican High School in Wisconsin, signed with the National Basketball Association Developmental League and was allotted to the Sioux Falls Sky Force. The SkyForce is the NBA affiliate of the Charlotte Bobcats and Minnesota Timberwolves. The Sioux Falls SkyForce training camp begins on Sunday, Nov. 11 2007.
Derrick Wimmer was named second-team all-state as a senior, as Well as Mr. Basketball in 2002. He started 20 of 30 games as a freshman at Chicago State while averaging 10 points and three assists per game.
Wimmer joined the Panthers program in 2003 and sat out the 2003-'04 season at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee under NCAA transfer rules.
Wimmer appeared in 15 games the 2005-06 season, averaging 0.7 points in 3.5 minutes per outing. As a sophomore, Wimmer played in 17 games. Wimmer, the reserve junior guard did not return to the Panthers for his senior 2006-'07 season.
