United States of America (Press Release) November 5, 2007 --
Dallas, Texas (PR Web) November 13, 2007--The letters came pouring in from across the world from black women screaming that they can’t find good, quality black men for companionship. There frustrations with black men ranged from no good baby daddies, physical, verbal and sexual abuse to cheating, lying and finally abandonment. These women say they aren’t just looking for any man. They seek men of integrity, men who respect them and know how to treat a woman. But are black women sabotaging their own chances at finding and keeping a good black man?
According to the mountain of letters received from black men who wrote in response to the “dearblackman.com” letters from black women, the answers rang loud and clear.
“Too many women PRETEND they can handle a sexual fling, but wind up getting caught up and wanting us to romance and wine and dine them and pretend we're having a "relationship" when it's NOTHING but a booty call,” one man said.
“Unfortunately, ladies, you are part of our problem. You sleep with us BEFORE you know us or what we're about. Having sex with a man does not automatically make that a "relationship,” another brother said.
“Black women might be considered as part of the problem when they knowingly allow men who are married or involved with someone else, into their hearts and their beds, because they think that having a “piece” of a man is better than having no man at all,” co-signed yet another.
“If he says, "I'm not looking for nothing right now" -- DON'T tell yourself, "Aw, he’s just scared of getting hurt. I can change his mind...”NO YOU CAN'T! He said exactly what he meant. Black men don't have to lie when so many black women are already DEAF,” as another man so bluntly stated.
For the first time in history, there are more unmarried American women than married ones—51 percent of women are single. Within the high percentage of single American women, 70 percent of African-American women are unmarried…” because they're waiting for the right black man."
However, black men are crying foul and say they’re getting a bum rap from women who believe that good black men don’t exist. “Men do what works. If a woman is involved in a relationship in which a man is consistently abusive, exploitive or insensitive toward her, she needs to find out what she’s doing to encourage that behavior.”
Black women should own rather than complain about how men treat them. Men do what they do because women have taught them, based on results, which behavior gets a payoff and which ones don’t,” said Jonathan, a 25 year-old graphic designer who lives in Atlanta. “Women have to stop "rewarding" unfaithful men by pretending it’s not happening. If you reward a dog, why should men stop being dogs?” The truth is not always easy to hear, but it always remains the truth.
