Phonehell.com asks Cesar Alierta Izuel to explain Movistar Colombia's Poor Customer Service

Does Telefonica's claims of good customer service hold water?

(Free-Press-Release.com) November 7, 2007 -- (BOGOTA, Colombia) November 7, 2007 -- Cesar Alierta Izuel, Executive Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and Member of Executive Committee, Telefonica SA in Spain has been asked by PhoneHell to explain a bad customer service incident in Colombia with Movistar.

Telefonica's webpages contain lots of information about how well the company treats it's clients and even how it goes overboard when a customer is unhappy, for example, "If our customers are dissatisfied with our products or services, we will provide them with the information and contact details necessary to make a complaint, should they wish to do so".

Phonehell.com believes the situation is different. It has a story about one Movistar customer in Colombia that can't make any phone calls or get any help, much less offerred any information on how to complain!

The customer was outside of Colombia for six months with her prepaid Movistar phone. During the time she was outside of Colombia, Movistar changed her from prepaid to monthly billing. Upon return to Colombia, Movistar claims that because of past due, unpaid bills she cannot use her phone as a prepaid or monthly billed phone!

She can receive calls on the original number, even though Movistar claims that is impossible because it had been unused for more than 3 months.

Cesar Alierta Izuel, Teleconfica's Press Office and their Colombian office have all been asked to comment on the Phonehell.com article and direct someone within the business to help their "customer". As of this writing, all of Telefonica's website claims about their excellent customer service and corporate responsiblity have simply left one customer without service or the use of the phone and sim card that was purchased under the "Movistar" name.
