Canada (Press Release) November 12, 2007 --
(Edmonton, AB, Canada) November 14, 2007 Diabetes Compass announces the launch of Canada’s only online audio diabetes health education classes for persons who live with diabetes.
“When you’re first diagnosed with diabetes, you’re in shock and disbelief and you may not retain vital diabetes health management information. Persons who live with diabetes often feel alone with your diabetes, too”, says Dianne Lehman, executive producer of Diabetes Compass Radio. “Diabetes is exploding in Canada and we live in such a fast-paced society that there’s a demand for quick, easy access to diabetes health information and education.”
Diabetes Compass Express, a series of 15-minute expert diabetes audio classes, are now available online to millions of Canadians, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This is an initiative of Diabetes Compass, produced in cooperation with the Capital Health Authority’s Regional Diabetes program, and the Pediatric Diabetes Education Centre at the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
“This milestone has very rewarding and I’m very proud of our team effort,” says Dianne Lehman, executive producer of Diabetes Compass Radio. ”Our classes can compliment other forms of diabetes education as review and reinforcement. The ultimate goal is to empower Canadians to take charge of their health - learn about more their diabetes, manage it well and sidestep serious health complications. If you live with diabetes, I urge you to listen to each class twice and send me an email telling me how our classes have helped you.”
Two million Canadians live with diabetes while an estimated 4 million Canadians have pre-diabetes.
Diabetes Compass is an independent company based in Edmonton, Alberta. Our mandate is to prevent a diabetes pandemic in Canada through multimedia and community-based diabetes awareness and education. We currently produce, broadcast, webcast and archive Canada’s only diabetes health education radio program and classes.
