AMERICAN GEM LITERARY FESTIVAL
The 7th American Gem Literary Festival Presented by FilmMakers Magazine / Write Brothers
Welcome visit Our WebSite:
http://www.filmmakers.com/contests/short/ Hollywood, CA — Though there may be an abundance of film festivals and contests where filmmakers and writers hope to attract attention to their work, there are still more players than there are positions in the game, making exposure to one's work quite an undertaking. That’s why exposure has been made one of the main themes of The American Gem Literary Festival by its producers at FilmMakers.com and screenwriting/filmmaking software giant, Write Brothers.
“We at Write Brothers are extremely happy to be partnered with American Gem in their quest to find the American Gem Short Script.”
--Chris Huntley, Vice President—Write Brothers
Now in its seventh year, The American Gem Literary Festival has become a semi-annual affair that invites people from anywhere in the world to submit their:
1) scripts ranging from a minimum of 3 pages up to a maximum of 45, requiring that at least one main character, male or female, is American. It must also be possible to produce the winning script on a low-budget.
2) short stories ranging from a minimum of 350 words up to a maximum of 12,500 words.
3) treatments ranging from a minimum of one page (250 words) up to a maximum of 20 (5000 words).
4) logline, no more than 90 words (brief description - one to two sentences describing the plot).
American Gem Literary Festival guarantees the production of the first place winner’s script, and the winner from each category will get 5 minutes to pitch their script to a producer, agent or studio executive.
With the sponsorship of Write Brothers, FilmMakers magazine, and Greenlight Script Coverage, Acton/Cut Filmmaking Seminars, American Gem offers practical and helpful prizes right up to the fifth position.
“…Many contests offer a large first place prize, then nothing after that. There are some that don’t even offer honourable mentions or semi-finalist levels. These things are important as boosts to the soul when one is slugging it out through another 10-page day.”
--Marc Calderwood
"My journey with American Gem has done so much for helping me realize my own dream. I feel like I can make it, writing for a living... After I completed The Gardener, I felt that the script actually had a voice. I researched online for the best short screenplay contest. You guys are it!"
--Musa Jackson
“American Gem’s intentions are genuine. Few contests honor the short script form the way they do. They don’t present themselves as a “fly-by-night” kind of organization by any means. And to have the chance to compete and have your short produced is too good to pass up.”
--Angie M. Comer
“…...when a contest offers a chance for your story to be produced, or to meet with producers and/or agents, it’s a great opportunity for an aspiring writer! …... I wanted to start entering some of my work into feature screenplay contests and started looking around the web......I never considered entering a short script contest before that.”
--Bruce Smolen
