e-ISOTIS Participates in the 1st EU4ALL Dissemination Conference in Lisbon
‘The Lifelong Learning (LLL) paradigm, which supports the idea that learning should occur throughout a person’s lifetime, is intended to integrate education and work in a continuous process in which all citizens should be able to access knowledge and perform work at any age and with any disability.’
The non-profit organization e-ISOTIS (Information Society Open to Impairments), organized the 1st EU4ALL dissemination conference in Lisbon, Portugal on the 8th-9th November 2007.
The conference was a great success with the message of EU4ALL being well presented. In the closing speech made by David Vincent (President of EADTU), Declaration of Lisbon, the message of the conference clearly coincided with the EU4ALL ethos: services online, lifelong learning and international cooperation.
In addition to e-ISOTIS, ATOS and other partners, the conference also hosted scientists and professionals in e-learning area who brought a wealth of knowledge to the forum. e-ISOTIS and partners presented the European project:
“EU4ALL” (www.eu4all-project.eu) that involves a program supporting the Lifelong
Learning paradigm in higher education institutions, focusing on people with disabilities and the elderly.
Stakeholders in the area of e-Learning Community were invited to attend the workshop. Also people with disabilities and elderly, training service and content providers, system developers (s/w), research institutes, educational institutes, media, academics, scientists, assistive technology developers and providers as well as practitioners who work in the field of e-Learning, Lifelong Learning and Design for All for people with disabilities, attended with great interest in advancing the exchange of information and developments.
Recognition for both the ‘Special Interest Group’ and EU4ALL SIG “Higher Education Accessibility” was officially announced during the workshop.
In addition, all public deliverables are now available via the website, making it more useful for all. Currently the deliverables showing on the website are under the ‘existing and forseen services’ folder and ‘User Requirements’. It is expected that the number of posts will increase significantly once awareness has been raised of this benefit. Please visit the website to view/update this.
e-ISOTIS is a non-profit making organisation founded in January 2004, that works for People with Disabilities, their families as well as key players of the ICT (Information Communication Technology) and training/research community from the whole globe. Currently, its network of disabled and elderly individuals as end-users, associations of disabled and elderly, ICT industry players, training/research institutions and universities expands not only through the whole Europe but also in Australia, China, US as well as in many other non-European countries.
