United States of America (Press Release) November 14, 2007 --
Tampa, Florida – November 14 - Rehab 1 Corporation today announced it has introduced an Internet-based version of its Rehab Integrity Pro software. The system upgrade expands the insurance industry’s ability to enforce compliance and accountability standards for health care providers rendering musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
“Rehab Integrity Pro has proven to be an extremely effective cost containment tool for carriers with exposure to medical claims for physical rehabilitation,” said Bruce Pitcher, founder and president of Rehab 1. “Our software focuses on a specific niche and it’s a very powerful instrument for a claims’ adjuster. The extensive user enhancements we’ve introduced combined with its accessibility via the Web, enables carriers to take reimbursement submission scrutiny to a new level.”
Insurance carriers utilize Rehab Integrity Pro as an adjunct to their existing claim management systems. It employs a multi-filter process to examine a submission’s worthiness relating to fulfillment of jurisdictional guidelines. The software has a unique methodology that assumes a provider’s submission was delivered in a non-compliant fashion and it put the onus on the provider to prove otherwise.
Some say the software’s technique is unfair to a health care provider. Pitcher points out, “The insurance industry has historically employed subjective denials based on issues such as pricing percentiles and medical necessity. Our software’s approach is different because it’s based on objectivity. When a provider demonstrates he didn’t deliver a service according to required protocols, it’s pretty clear cut that service shouldn’t be reimbursed by the carrier.”
Rehab 1 is a health care consulting firm that caters to publicly-traded property and casualty insurance carriers that write policies covering automobile, workers’ compensation and health coverage. The company targets compliance issues relating to delivery of musculoskeletal rehabilitation services.
