After vacationing in Costa Rica, Dan & Holly Pesta knew they wanted to live in this beautiful country. When they discovered Sabalo Lodge their lives would be changed forever. The beauty of this oasis within a wildlife-rich rainforest captivated their hearts. It was a place they thought only existed in their dreams. So they sold their home in Southern California, said good-bye to family and friends and made their new home in this wondrous remote location.

This last year has been spent rebuilding the lodge from the ground up. “We recreated Sabalo Lodge to adhere to the strictest principles of sustainability and environmentally friendly practices”, says Dan Pesta, Owner Sabalo Lodge.

Sabalo Lodge accepts only 12 guests at a time to ensure maximum wildlife encounters, personalized service and low environmental impact. The owners will donate 5% of their profits to the local school.

Offering diverse environments and wildlife: lowland rainforest, river, mangroves, a mountainous jungle and close proximity to one of the prettiest ocean beaches on earth, Sabalo Lodge provides a variety of unique tours ranging from adventurous to educational. Their location in close proximity to Corcovado National Park makes a great day trip for guests.

Study the wildlife of a primitive mangrove and rainforest from a hammock. Learn about their neighbors, a small river population in a remote jungle oasis just off the grid. The Lodge is located in a delicate eco system that the owners are helping preserve.
