HUMAN DNA PATENTING OFFERS AMERICANS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR GENETIC SAMPLES
Leading Genetics Organization Uses DNA Samples for Organ Farming, Cybernetics and Stem Cell Research; Pays Donors At Least $5,000
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 22, 2007 --
The average American now has an outlet to help expand DNA sequence research and innovation in areas of science including cybernetics, organ farming and stem cell research. The recently released mass consumer website, SellMyDNA.com, operated by New Line Genetics, offers consumers the ability to sell the rights to patent their DNA.
Genomic patenting has been common practice in the past three decades, but was most often executed at a high level by leading research facilities. Anthony Martin, founder and president of New Line Genetics, believes that offering an incentive in the form of payment – at least $5,000 per DNA sample – will help to drive Americans to sell the right to patent their DNA to the organization.
This allows New Line Genetics to perform exclusive research on patented DNA samples, aiding in the development of innovative technologies in the fields of organ farming, cybernetics and stem cell research.
“Since 2002, New Line Genetics has been making great strides in securing the future health of America through human genome research, and now genomic patenting,” says Martin. “We’re confident that our new consumer website will help reshape the way average people think about their DNA, and genetics in general. I feel that we are approaching a crossroads of the genomic revolution, which is very exciting.”
New Line Genetics is currently accepting DNA samples that have minimal biohazardous properties, such as hair follicles, top-layer skin samples, fingernail clippings and saliva.
Since genetic samples are not technically and legally under the ownership of the donor after removed from his or her body, the donor must contact the organization via SellMyDNA.com to obtain a copy of the Donor Consent Contract.
