NAACP Image Award winner Kadeem Hardison (A Different World/Fantasia Burrino Story) is filming in the Baltimore/Washington, DC area ufor an upcoming feature film "Sister Switch," where he co-stars with local Baltimore singing sensation Neenah Taylor. The film, "Sister Switch", a 24K Black Film, is loosely based on the life of the multi-talented 12 year-old singer/song writer/actress and model.
The film is written/produced and directed by Torrance Calvin (www.24kblackfilms.com), with Shawn Grice (Assassin) as Director of Photography. "Sister Switch," is about a nerdy young girl, Ashleigh Cole (Neenah Taylor), whose big sister Taylor Cole (Destenee McKenzie) is a very popular entertainer. Ashleigh dreams of being just as popular as her singing sister and with the support of her scientist father (Kadeem Hardison), mother (Jacqueline Fleming), her best friend played by MiaBella Becker and life's circumstances, her dream comes true.
Kadeem Hardison is best known for starring in the weekly sitcom, "A Different World," a spin off of "The Crosby Show." It should be noted that before he appeared in "A Different World," he starred in "White Men Can't Jump" and "School Daze." Hardison received a 1990 and 1992 NAACP Image Awards for his acting on, "A Different World" and a 2007 Image Award for his co-starring role on the special "The Fantasia Barrino Story," as the father of American Idol winner Fantasia. He produced a CBS special in 1992, as well as, wrote and directed four episodes for "A Different World." He is also currently filming "Made of Honor."
Baltimore native Neenah Taylor has accomplished a lot as singer having performed as opening act for Trey Songz, Angela Bofill and Angie Stone. She has opened many Baltimore events, such as the Baltimore International Festival and events for the Mayor and Governor, by singing the "National Anthem" and "God Bless America."
Neenah, a member of SAG and AFTRA, has also modeled for Toy's R Us, Daimler Chrysler, Apple Computer, CarMax Freddie Mac, the Baltimore Aquarium and Pampers. Destenee McKenzie is a gifted pianist, vocalist, song writer and producer. The 18 year-old Massachusets native has performed (with her live band) as opening act for such artists as Brian McKnight, Marques Houston, Omarion, Sean Paul and Stevie Wonder. She also just recently released her debut album, "Destenee: The Fate of Music," on Kestebray Records.
Jacqueline Fleming is no stranger to the screen starting a career appearing in such films as "Losing Isaiah" and "Love Jones," and television appearances such as "Girlfriends," "The Steve Harvey Show" and "In the House." Recent Jacqueline Fleming projects include appearances on Showtime's "Last Holiday," "All About Us" and "CSI: Miami." (3a)
