United States of America (Press Release) November 26, 2007 --
The usual Suspects. the usual diets. They're attractive at first, and they may work for a whil. Face it though---for most of us, all they can promise is a short-term fling. Sure, you may lose dramatically. Yet somehow the pounds usually creep back. Ultimately, you lose stuff you do't want to lose----like patience, faith and hope.
Here are some facts about diets:
1. famine
Your body is smarter than you think. It knows when you're starving, and for this it's equipped with survival chip. Enter the famine response. If you cut calories to less than 1,200 a day, your metabolism will slow down to conserve energy. That means you will only need 1,200 calories or less a day to maintain your weight. When you slow down this calorie-burning ability, you no longer need as many calories as you did before you started dieting. Cruel. Isn't it.
Also, your body holds on to fat until you absolutely need it (another surviva thing). With most diets, the weight you lose right off the bat is typically from water and muscle. Losing muscle mass is not what you want to do---muscle burns calories. It needs energy for survival. The bad news? When you lose muscle, you slow down your metabolism even more.
2. Fall Off
Most diets leave you hungry, tired and craving the foods you miss. So you fall off, and youre back to your old eating habits.
3. Feast
You go back to your old eating habits. And, you start eating again.
4. Repeat
Most People repeat the same cycle or you can make a change. There are many great programs like the cinch plan that help work by prserving your lean body mass and promote your weight loss from fat. For more information, visit www.http://cinchplan.com/ecohealthy
