NEW SURVEY: SURPRISINGLY HIGH PERCENTAGE ADMIT
KNOWING LITTLE OR NOTHING ABOUT THE PANDEMIC

Ranking of wealthy countries’ knowledge, attitudes and concerns

World Vision Launching 24-hour Global Vigil to Honor AIDS Orphans


WHAT: Christian humanitarian organization, World Vision will release the findings of an international survey conducted by Ipsos measuring a wide range of opinions and perceptions of AIDS among residents of seven nations: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the U.K and the United States.

Key findings:

- Surprising percentage of people believing problems of pandemic are “greatly exaggerated;”

- Nations where respondents are most – and least – concerned about AIDS;

- How AIDS ranks among other issues, such as Iraq War, terrorism, climate change and global economy (overall and by individual countries’ respondents); and

- Americans’ attitudes toward condom distribution, “clean” needle distribution and programs discouraging sexual promiscuity (national and regional statistics)
