United States of America (Press Release) December 6, 2007 --
Conneaut, OH 44030: As a father of a two year old boy, Eric Downing was worried when he learned other countries are recalling or banning toys that the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) refuses to act on. As a result, he started www.toysafetynotice.com so he can notify other parents of toy recalls that may affect them.
One such toy is the Yo-Yo Water Ball. This toy has been banned or recalled in many countries, although it still sold in the Untied States. The CPSC has refused to ban the toy that has injured over 400 children in the United States.
Toy Safety Notice combines toy recalls from France, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and the United States and notifies members with information regarding the recall, so parents do not have to rely only on the CPSC. These countries import a lot of the same toys that are sold in the US, and to Eric’s surprise there was not one website that combines the recalls from multiple countries.
Toy Safety Notice goes one step farther than just listing every recall. Members have the ability to enter each toy, and they will receive toy specific recall information, or choose to receive every toy recall notification.
As a concerned parent, Eric wanted to keep costs low, so memberships are only $10 per year.
