United Kingdom of Great Britain & N. Ireland (Press Release) December 10, 2007 --
Winner of the Brath award for Best Hip-Hop artist in Zambia; rapper, C.R.I.$.I.$. and his label Clavel Incorporated, have just signed a deal to have his latest album digitally distributed. The new album called ‘Designer’ will be available to the masses through a new distributor, Nimbit. This has come as great news as they are also associated with distributing Robert Plant’s, Led Zeppelin front man, collaboration album with female singer Alison Krauss. In January, 2005, C.R.I.$.I.$. debuted with, ‘Officer in Charge,’ making him the first artist to release a Hip-Hop album in Zambia.
The album includes songs like “Bring it Back Rewind” which is also featured on U.S. disc jockey, Dj. Green Lantern’s mixtape, called ‘Myspace Monster Mash.’ Also appearing on the album is Bob McKay on saxophone. McKay has in the past worked with artists such as; Sir Paul McCartney, Shirley Bassey, Gabrielle, Kenny Rogers, plus many more. “Working with Bob has been an honour as he has worked with many artists that I admire, and I feel blessed to be added to this list” says the rapper.
The album production is described as a mixture of Dr. Dre meets Timbaland and Rick Rubin. A brand new style inspired by the old school, but also one of the few Hip-Hop albums that appeal to every generation and or race. The up-tempo song, “Bedrock (Oh Lord)” is reminiscent of Run DMC meets Aerosmith. “Turning Back (Walking a Road that’s Lonely)” finds the artist rapping over a mid-tempo, soulful guitar, drums and orchestral strings as he addresses a relationship gone wrong. “I’ve Been Waiting,” let’s you into the artist’s view on the Hip-Hop industry. He clearly displays strong wordplay that is as fun as listening to a modern Big Daddy Kane at his prime. The song has a catchy flute that sounds like a ringtone built and released just in time for your latest phone.
The new album by C.R.I.$.I.$., ‘Designer’ is available for digital download. He is expected to appear on MTV Base in January, 2008 as he was part of The Hugo Urban Rules held in London on December 3rd to the 4th, 2007. The show also featured U.S. R&B singer, Amerie. The official album launch is scheduled for February, with tour dates in March 2008, beginning in the U.K. and ending in Africa. It looks like the rapper brings a much needed facelift to the Hip-Hop music industry in the New Year.
